I am really excited to introduce you all to Deanna from Birdsong Bows. Deanna started Birdsong bows back in 2006 after she got tired of trying to find a fun selection of good quality hairbows for her daughter. So true to the DIY spirit, Deanna made her own and launched Birdsong Bows. She created bows for 4 years before deciding to teach others how to do it, and now she has 14 patterns and tutorials to show you how to make various types of hair bows, tutus, and fabric, felt and ribbon flowers.
Here are a few of my favs!
Aren't they lovely?!

Well, Joel has a free pattern for a quilt on his blog, using the heirloom fabrics. He has used some from each of the colorways, but it would work with the stack I have above as well. Here is a picture of the quilt from Market.

Up and Coming: Daisy Cottage from Riley Blake Designs
This is due out in October from Riley Blake by Bee in My Bonnet. It's called Daisy Cottage. I am in LOVE with the print with the sofa/lamp/chandelier silhouettes. So much fun! Try to think what I would sew with these. What would you do?

Wedding Shower or Christmas?
I went to the wedding shower for my dear friend, Michelle. She's FINALLY found the right guy and I couldn't be happier for her! Isn't she gorgeous!? She's has been my confidant, cheerleader, photographer, dance buddy, fashion consultant, and FRIEND for 13 years.
So, what to give Michelle and Ben for the wedding shower? I am planning a wedding quilt if it all works out, but what to do for the shower...
Lingerie?
Definitely not the style of our friendship.
Kitchen appliances?
Michelle has been happily independent for a while.
Something off the registry?
I just really wanted to do something unique and amazing!
So, I finally come up with something unique.
Something NO ONE else would be giving her.
Something a little crazy.
It was...
HIS
and
HERS
matching Christmas Stockings for their first Christmas together!
I was kind of nervous because it was really unconventional, but I shouldn't have been. They were a hit! Everyone loved them and asked where I got them. I was blushing like crazy when Michelle announced to everyone, "Anna made these. She can make anything!" It was the perfect gift.
I used my Heirloom Stocking pattern to make these, and you can too! Check the Yards and Yards shop.

Join Me for "A Walk Around the Block"
Here in Utah, all our streets are laid out in a very grid-like way. It makes it nice and easy to find things... or at least that was the theory. It works for most people, although I will admit that my kids are usually the one's finding the car after we do the grocery shopping.
Anyhow, that lovely grid is the inspiration for my newest quilt pattern called "A Walk Around the Block." And I'm sure you can tell why...
This quilt was so much fun to make!! The pattern includes a Baby/Lap or Twin size pattern. It was like Christmas after each block was finished. I couldn't wait to iron them and see how they each turned out. I wonder if that's why guys like fishing... it's in about the thrill in wondering what is at the end of that line?! Tangent... Back to the quilt.
Here's a close up of one of the blocks. I love how this quilt bunched right up after I washed it. It's super soft and cuddly. I just love that.
And now, for the binding. It gets its own picture because it's at least 25% of the work here!

So if you are interested in making this really fun, very easy quilt using my oh-so-detailed pattern, head on over to the Yards and Yards Etsy shop and look for "A Walk Around the Block."

A Red and Turquoise Tribute to Chellie
My wonderful friend Michelle is getting married. We were roomies in college over 12 years ago and that first year of college will always live in my memory as one of the best of my life. And Michelle has remained an amazing friend through the years. I won't go into the teary details, but she's quite the gal. So this is a Red/Turquoise tribute to Michelle and Ben, who are getting married this September!!!
Congrats, you two!!!
PS. I get to make some bunting and *maybe* a wedding sash with melty flowers if it passes
Michelle's inspection.
