Fabric Fun: Laurie's Cabinet

One of my all time FAVORITE fabric designers is Joel Dewberry.  And it;s not even because he lives down the road.  (I didn't even know that until Quilt Market a few months back!).  His style is just amazing! And his wife, Laurie, is possibly one of the sweetest gals I have ever met.

Anyhow, while I was perusing a few blogs, I read Laurie's post about her Cabinet Makeover.  Check out these pictures of the before and after.

Love it Laurie!!  This is so stunning.  Isn't it funny how our styles change over time?

PSSST.... If you are after some of Joel's Fabric, check HERE or HERE.

Free Pattern: Market Sack from Riley Blake

I though this sack was so adorable, that I had to share.  They use a jelly roll of fabric, but you can just as easily use a solid piece or pieces your own design.  So here it is-- the Happy Market Sack!

Isn't it fun?  I love the giant grommets.  They are the shower curtain kind so you don't need any setting tool!

You cabn find the pattern right HERE.  Enjoy!

SSS... Sumo's Sweet Stuff is Sizzlin'

I was so excited to see this pattern review over at Sumo's Sweet Stuff.  You can go see it right here.  Let me just tell you that this has been a favorite blog of mine for a long time, and now that I have talked a  little with Summer, I can say that I know why I always liked it so much.  Summer is so incredibly kind and sweet.  She is a genuinely nice person and I always love to know that there are lots of nice people out there.  Eeeek.  I hope I am nice, too...

Anyhow, here is my scalloped bunting "Sumo-fied."  I love the fabrics she chose.  Summer made it for her daughter's birthday, but after hanging it up for photos, she has decided it's permanent home will be in her daughter's bedroom.  So fun!!

Lovely stuff!!!

Up and Coming: Heather Bailey's Garden District

I've been watching and waiting for Heather Bailey to release a new fabric line, and it's has finally happened! This one is called Garden District from FreeSpirit. It's soft and feminine and it will come in cotton sateen and canvas. Fancy nightgowns and home decor heaven!! Here are some of the canvas prints.

Lovely, no?

Hop on over, I'm doing a giveaway...

Craft Room Love

I'd love to have a space to create. I'd take any one of the following:

 Yes please.
 I could work with this.
 Ummmm.  Wow.
 Sign me up.
Stunning.

OK.  You convinced me.

But alas, I still create on my kitchen table.  BUT, that has some serious benefits.  These are:

1.  No craft room to clean.
2.  I can sew and still feel like I'm a part of my family.
3.  My kids get to watch, learn and even play along!
4.  It's always on the front of my mind, since I can see it all when I walk in the front door.
5.  It's a daily reminder of my goal to get organized.

Take 2: Stocking on White

I took some other pictures with the stocking on a white background.   I can't decide which I like better, but I will say that I need a professional photographer to help me out.

Have a great weekend!!!

Stylin' Stocking: Modern, Eclectic Stocking Fun!

I've been thinking about these funky stockings for a while and I finally put one together yesterday.  I think I'm going to call them Stylin' Stockings, but I'm still playing with it.

The fabrics are from the AMAZING Heirloom fabrics from Joel Dewberry and they are so much fun to work with!

The cuff is ruffled and the inside is fully lined.  Just imagine the fun you could have with these for the holidays!  Or even for a birthday stocking!  I love that idea!

I'm hoping to tweak a few things and try out a few things then get this baby into a pattern.  Funky fun!

Red and Aqua Bunting: A Wedding Dream Banner

Remember my good friend, Michelle?  Well, she's getting married and I am super, duper excited for her.

Her colors are Red and Aqua, so of course I had to make a bunting for the reception.  She's doing the red and aqua colors with a sweet vintage feel to it.  They are using an antique bed to put all the gifts on and I think the bunting would look amazing hanging up behind it.  Or maybe behind the goodies tables.

I just love these events!  They are so much funner to plan when they aren't your own!

AND.... in case you are dying for your own Red and Aqua Bunting, I had extra fabric and made a duplicate!!  It's a great color combination and these babies are made super well.  You can find it HERE.

So, what were your wedding colors (if you're married)?  Would you keep the same or do it different?  I think I would definitely go for something more bright and colorful.  I do love Michelle's colors!!!

Gather In Close For My New Favorite...

Seriously, have I been under a rock??

Yesterday, my husband picked up a Gathering Foot (#16) for me at a Bernina Shop nearby.  It is the best thing ever!!  I can't believe all the time it will save me.
I went to buy one about a year ago, but the sweet gal at the shop told me it wouldn't do what I wanted.  Apparently, she was mistaken and now I have gone through an entire unnecessary year of gathering by hand!  I am trying to forgive this sweet lady, but it may take some time.

So for those of you wondering about a Gathering Foot, here is what is can do:

1.  Gather or Shirr a single layer of fabric
2.  If you want to sew a gathered layer to a non-gathered layer (think tiered skirt) you can do this in one step as well!  Just place the fabric, right sides together.  Place the non-gather fabric in the little metal slot and the gathering fabric on top.  It will gather the top and keep the other one straight!

Oh, the time I will save in the future!!

This would have been perfect for my Ruffled Bag...

Or Ruffled Baby Quilt...
I will move on a look to the future!!  I will forgive the Bernina gal!  I will gather with reckless abandon!

I admit it, I'm on one today.  So I'm finishing this post now.

But if any of you have been wondering, it does work!  And it's easy!
