Cute Gift Tags: Christmas Gift #2

OK... so how are you all doing? And where have I been you may ask? Well, let's just say sick kids, injured kid, out-of-town husband, holiday season, and sick me. I'm sure you wanted to know and now you do.

But I'm back and I had to share this cute idea from Kate Spain with you all!

She has a little tutorial over on her blog about how to make the CUTEST gift tags ever. I think if I got this on a present, I'd mistake it for the present. Check this out!

Are these not the sweetest gift tags ever? Now, I just need to get my hands on that adorable fabric! Kate used the panel from her 12 Days of Christmas fabric. You can get it HERE at the Fat Quarter Shop as a panel. I think I could go for a whole panel of just the tags!

Finally! The Perfect Stocking Fabrics!!

Remember THIS? I have been in the hunt for the perfect fabrics ever since. I've looked online. I've looked at our local quilt stores. I've looked at JoAnn's!! No luck.

So I went to a far off quilt store and finally found what I was hoping for. Here it is folks. Feel free to totally hack these. I think they are perfect!

From Top to bottom the winners are:

Moda's Fruitcake by BasicGrey
Red Rooster Fabrics Mandalay
Unknown Red with White Polka Dots
Moda's Making New Friends by Deb Strain
Moda's Fruitcake by BasicGrey
Moda's Fruitcake by BasicGrey
Moda's Fruitcake by BasicGrey

And here they are again. They are going to be great if I manage to finish before Christmas.

With any luck, I'll even get a tutorial for all you crazy crafters out there who would rather spend 12 hours making heirloom stockings then spending a fortune to have it done for you. For me, it's worth it. I like the quality of the things I make. And my kids will be able to use them for years and know that every cut and stitch was done with them in mind.

I'll post them when they are finished. Cant' wait!

Up and Coming: Cosmo Crisket Tailor Made

Cosmo Cricket is a one of my favorite scrapbook paper designers, and they have recently moved into fabrics, designing for Andover Fabrics. They have a new line coming soon called Tailor Made. It's so fun AND it's new to stores so hop to it, if you want some!

I found these images at Hawthorne Threads. They have some if you want it!!! (Not paid to say this... I just think it's a great online shop.)

Isn't is fantastic?

A Parisville Process

Tula Pink's Parisville is hitting the stores. I'm excited about the amazing detail in this line and you already know what a fan I am. (For example... HERE and HERE). What can I say? The girl has style.

Anyhow, I love how she shares her creative process. On her blog there is a whole post about how she goes from a fabric concept to a finished fabric design. It super interesting. You can see it HERE.

Here is the general idea: (PS. All of these images are via Tula Pink.) Keep up the amazing work, Jen!!!

A Quilt Market Recap

There was yet another fabulous Quilt Market over Halloween. I've been looking around at the various designers' sites and finding my favorites for you. They go to a TON of work on these booths, but they are lovely! Take a look:

First off, Art Gallery/ Pat Bravo. I am in love with so much of her stuff. It's just classy, and cheery, and amazingly, stunningly, beautiful. (Gotta pack this with adverbs!)

Now, Tula Pink's lovely Parisville was a hit at Market. And you will see why when you see her booth! I am amazed to think of the work and detail that go into one lovely, little pillow!

Jenean Morrison has this amazing bike that I had to share. Is it fun or what?

The Riley Blake booth looks as sweet as can be. They are really taking the fabrics industry by storm. I'm a huge fan, in case that wasn't obvious already...

And finally, Lila Tueller's booth looks great. It helps that her designs are rockin'! I want those pillows!!!

So, there you have it... a very brief tour of Quilt Market. And you know what's sad? I'm already looking forward to the next one!!! Tales of a fabric addict, I guess.

Eeeny...Meeeny... Minnnny.... Moda...

It's funny how I can get frozen over small decisions. I want to make 6 coordinating stocking for my family for Christmas. We've had mismatched one's for a long time, and we don't really NEED new ones, but I thought it would be a nice memory regardless.

So, her I am... stuck! I've looked online, I've gone to out local CUTE quilt store. And I'm stuck. I want these to be prefect. They can't be too girly, or too traditional, or too ... whatever. And they should match my current holiday decor, but I've wanted to change that anyway.... but is that really worth it?

So I'm stuck! It's silly really, but I'm sure you've been there. Buying fabric is pricey and I want to get it right.

Here are a few general ideas I've had, but I'm not sold on any of them. What would you do?

Option A: Moda Fruitcake

Option B: Riley Blake

Option 3: Mix N Match

I really just need to jump in.

Aprons Revisited!!

Do you remember these sweet adjustable aprons? Well, not everyone has the time to make them so... I put one for sale at Etsy! You can check it out HERE.

It's a fun little experiment of mine. I have a few more and if it goes OK, I'll add those as well.

Here are a few more of them. I am still in love with Heather Bailey's Freshcut... even after the aprons, curtains, quilts, skirts, hair bows, lamps, mirrors, and storage boxes. It is amazing fabric!!

Aren't they cute? They would be a really nice Christmas gift for a little girl. I know my little one's love to get theirs on and "help" me cook.

Deck the Halls!

I ran in to this lovely wreath today and I HAD to share this one. Is this not gorgeous???

There is a tutorial HERE at All Things Heart and Home. And being the fabric junkie that I am, I think it might be gorgeous to use thin strips of fabric to wrap some round ornaments instead of using yarn balls. Like these done over at HGTV last year.

I'm off the the dollar store today to see what there is to see. Wish me luck!

Holiday Sewing: Stocking Ideas...

It's time to start thinking of the Christmas Season. Over the years, I have made a stocking here... a stocking there... and they are all fun and different. This year, I want to make us all new stockings so I've been looking around and trying to decide which way to go?

Plain or fancy?

Christmas colors... or not?

Left facing or right facing?

Pictures or plain?

What do you think?

As soon as I decide and get them made, I'll share with you. I'm excited for this one!

Sometimes...

Sometimes I see a fabric and I think.... hmmmmm. Not so sure what I think of that...

So I move to the next fabric in the collection...

Yeah... it's alright. I see lots of similar prints, though.

So, I keep going down the line...

Ooooo..... I think. Lot's of dots. I've got plenty of those. So I move along...

Now this is really beautiful. I like this quite a lot.

And then, you add them all together....

How did I ever live without you????

It amazes me how these fabrics are OK by themselves, but with the right combination, they are MAGIC!
