Free Pattern: Joel Dewberry Pendant Quilt

I mentioned a few days back, that I had the best time meeting Joel and Laurie Dewberry at the Salt Lake Quilt Market.  I even discovered that they live like 15 minutes away!  You'd have thought I figured that one out by now, but I didn't.

When debating whether or not to start my little fabric shop, I saw Joel's line, Aviary 2, and that was the last straw!  I had to have that fabric!  It's AMAZING!  It's HERE and it's almost gone...

Well, Joel and his wife were kind enough to whip up a free quilt pattern using this great fabric.  It's called a Pendant Quilt and the pattern is HERE.

Here is an image of the quilt.  Isn't it great?  So, sew away!

The Sparrow Has Landed!

As you might have noticed, I've been gone a lot lately. But here's the good news.... I've been gone on an adventure!

I have decided to take my love aof fabric a step further and start an online fabric shop called.... you guessed it.... Yards and Yards! It will be at Etsy for now and you can see it over HERE.

Here are my start-up guidelines for Yards and Yards:

1. Only sell what I LOVE and use myself.

2. I will be selling fabric bundles.... yards and half-yards. Just bundles. Seriously, as a shopper, I like it all bundled, matched and ready to go. So I figure that's how I'll sell it.

3. I am going to be offering a "Line of the Month" where I will really focus on one line of fabric. I'll create tutorials and projects using that fabric. Maybe I'll even do a giveaway here and there.

4. Lastest and greatest. I can't help myself, but I always want those new releases.

So.... here is April's Line of the month. Are you surprised? It's Aviary II by Joel Dewberry and the instant I saw it, I knew it had to be my debut line! It's so stunning and so pretty in person. I knew it would be!

So, stay tuned for some really fun projects using Aviary II. I'm so excited to play witht his stuff!

Psssst..... If you have to have some, you can get it HERE. I'll be adding different bundles as I can. AND for my blog buddies, I have a FREE SHIPPING Etsy code: APRILSHOWERS. Enjoy!

Up and Coming: Aviary 2 by Joel Dewberry

OK... this is my favorite fabric line so far of 2011! It's called Aviary 2 by Joel Dewberry and I LOVE this! It should be out soon.

I really can't pick a favorite Coloway here, but if I HAD to choose, it would be the orange, brown, blue combo. What is it with me and orange lately?

Oh! But these colors rock my world, too! I might need to re-decorate my girls room!

Anyhow, I love this stuff! I got all the images over at Joel and Laurie's blog, right HERE.

AND.... did you read the blog? Because if you did then you saw this:

"Check back soon for a Sneak Peek of Joel's new "Heirloom" collection, and some patterns we will debut in Salt Lake this May."

A new line by Joel... always a plus! And the bigger plus is.....

I AM GOING TO THE SALT LAKE QUILT MARKET IN MAY!

I am so excited. There are some fun things happening here at Yards and Yards, and you guys will be the first to know. It's going to be fun!

Free Pattern: Flower Fields Placemat by Joel Dewberry

I think Joel Dewberry is one of my very favorite designers these days. His Modern Meadow collection makes my quilters' heart go pitter patter.

His lovely wife, Laurie, has done a blog for Joel's designs and I had to share. I know Laurie is a girl after my heart because she loves Swedish Fish, too!

I found this amazing pattern and I love these! Check it out HERE.

Isn't it amazing! Thanks, Laurie and Joel, for the inspiration!

Mix n' Match: Orange Teal and Green

I used to own an online scrapbooking kit website. Did I ever tell you that? I sold it a few years ago, but I learned soooo much from that journey. One thing I noticed was that the scrapbooking a fabric industries have quite a lot in common.

In scrapbooking land, papers are designed in sets. There may be 4 or 14 papers in a line all designed to go together. I found that as a kit designer, my customers loved it when I mixed and matched papers with several lines. Somehow it made them feel more unique, more eclectic. They like having papers match that were not meant to go together.

So, for today's feature, I mixed fabrics from 3 designers. Just for fun. Here are the fabrics:

1. Amy Butler August Fields
2. Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow
3. Sandi Henderson Meadowsweet
4. Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow
5. Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow

I'd like a yard of each please.

Up and Coming: Joel Dewberry Modern Meadow

Today in my hunting, I came across this collection by Joel Dewberry. There are 3 Colorways in this collection, but I have a huge problem. Which one do I like most? They are all so nice. I think I'm leaning toward option 1. I am really loving the orange/aqua thing lately. What about you?

And did you notice? Joel Dewberry was used in my very first post. Yep. Those great little birds are his.
