Introducing: MOD Rectangles... A New Quilt Pattern

I am so excited to show you my latest pattern!!  It's called MOD Rectangles and it's  a keeper!   I love the modern, bold design.  And I LOVE these Aviary 2 Fabrics from Joel Dewberry!!  I have really been into the modern quilt designs these days.  So simple and yet they make a huge statement.

This one is a large twin size quilt, but it is SUPER easy to adjust this to any size you want.

So, here it is, MOD Rectangles....

Of course, I had to photograph it in a tree.  Quilts and trees go great together.

Here's a close up of these wonderful fabrics.

What can I say, it's perfect for autumn.  I just want to wrap up in this and read  the day away!!!

So, if want, you can visit the shop and get the MOD Rectangles Pattern.  Enjoy!!

PS.  I also added the kit so you can make this EXACT quilt with these same fabrics.  It's a good deal AND of course you get the pattern free with the kit.

I'm "Falling" for Halloween Bunting

My big sister and her family came to visit us!  I always love when my sister is here.  We can seriously just talk for hours and be entertained, but this time we actually did a project.

She saw some bunting I had up for my daughter's birthday and she loved it.  Even my husband conceded, "Hmmmm... I guess I can see the point of bunting after all."  It was a big step for him!

So, we ran to a few stores, picked some fun Halloween fabrics and whipped up some fun bunting.  It will hang in her home most of the time, but she has a fun place to hang it outside for Halloween.  She is also having a little Halloween party at her place and this will be the perfect decoration!

So... here it is!

We stuck with fairly patterns-neutral fabrics.  The stripe fabric has all of the colors and really pulls it all together.  The only truly Halloween ones are the ghosties and the spider web fabrics.
We also stuck exactly to THIS pattern.  No surprises there.  BUT, there is a cool surprise in the picture below.  There was this amazing spiderweb toile fabric that we loved but it was totally see-through.  My sister had the idea to layer it over a fun green.  It worked great and the effect is so much fun!!
Happy Fall-ifying!!!

Spotlight: Crafty Cupboard's Scripture Tote

Melanie over at the Crafty Cupboard did a little write-up about Yards and Yards.  She even reviewed my Scripture Tote pattern fro me!!  You can go check it out right HERE.

I just love her fabric choice!  Melanie altered the pattern a bit and opted not to add the ruffles, but it works!  And that's the beauty of being a DIY'er... you can add or take off anything you want to when you make it yourself!!

Of course, I love the ruffle too....

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Sweet Deal: SALE on Heirloom

I need to free up some space in my fabric closet, so I am having a super sale on Joel Dewberry's Heirloom fabrics.  It's on for $48 for 6.5 yards and that would normally be $65.  You can find it HERE or HERE.

It's beautiful fabric.  Here is a quilt I made using this fabric.

And another lovely shot of this fabric stack.  I love every single fabric in this line!

AND... don't forget how you can make super fun ruffle stockings with this fabric.... well... you could IF I had the pattern done.  Sorry about that one!  But at ;east you can make Heirloom Stockings with this fabric.  In fact, if you've read this whole thing, then you deserve a free pattern.  When you buy the Heirloom fabric, type a pattern you want into the "note to seller" and tell me which pattern you would like.  Enjoy!!

Red and Aqua Wedding!!!

This past weekend was the wedding reception of my wonderful friends, Michelle and Ben.  I took some pictures of the details and wanted to share.

Here it is, my fun bunting pattern!  I even had some leftover fabric so you can get this exact one from my Etsy Shop!!  Michelle had this draped by the food and it looked so fun!

Candy buffet!!!  Popcorn!!!  Cotton Candy!!!  Cupcakes!!!  It was SWEET!  Literally!

Here is a fun detail you can try out yourself.  I took a bunch of patterned papers in Michelle's colors and I had a few circle hole punches.  I punched away and then randomly sewed the circles together.  It was actually pretty fast and it added such a fun detail to the reception.  Seriously, try this one out.  It's adorable!!
I have about 50 other pictures of food, dancing, and memories, but I think this is enough for now.  Have a wonderful day!!

Remembering 9/11

Yesterday marked the 10-Year Anniversary of September 11.  On that day 10 years ago, my 1st child was about 6 months old.  I remember the feelings I felt as it finally dawned on us all that these were deliberate attacks.  I knelt on the ground in front of the TV with my little son in my arms, and I just cried.  Why would someone do this?  And how could I have brought a little one into this scary world?

Yesterday in church we sang "America the Beautiful."  The third verse begins, "O beautiful for heroes proved, in liberating strife.  Who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life."  I know that on that day 10 years ago, I learned what a hero really looked like.  It was a good opportunity for me and my family to talk about what happened 10 years ago and how the world stood still, then America stood together, and then we went to work.  I wish that sense of pride and unity in our country lasted longer!

Anyhow, I just wanted to proclaim that I remember.  And my children will know.  And I am so thankful for our country and those who defend us and who rise up in times of need with a bravery they didn't know they had.  Thanks you!

This is the picture I will always remember, and I'm sure so many of you will as well.

Spotlight! Amy's Stockings

Amy sent me this picture of her cute, cute stockings made from THIS pattern.  I just love how she modified it to make a sweet stocking for thier dog, Dexter.  Isn't that paw print adorable?

Here is what Amy wrote to me:

Hi.  Just wanted to send a pic of my completed Christmas stockings.  The pattern was great and easy to follow.  I didnt use the felt for the lining, but I think they still turned out firm enough and super cute!  I adapted your pattern a little bit to make the paw stocking for my dog, too.  That wasnt so hard, either.  I just had to find a paw print for the applique.  Thanks again for the great pattern.  I hope to make more of these for different family members.

Thanks Amy!!  I'm so glad you liked this pattern!!  And the fabrics you chose are beautiful!

Up and Coming: Dainty Blossoms by Carina Gardner

"This blog silence has been brought to you by Michelle's Wedding and The Diamond O Ranch."

Yep.  It's official, my good friend Michelle, is married!  I spent most of the weekend doing her bidding--arranging veils in pictures, running her last minute errands, hiding car keys from over-zealous car-decoartors, and helping her arrange their new home.  It was great!  Worst part = No pics because I was too busy taking candids with Michelle's camera!!  I'm sure she'll get me some soon.

Then we spent the holiday up at my husband's homestead in Idaho.  It's the prettiest place ever!  We rode the four-wheeler, ate fresh food from the garden, put up corn, picked huckleberries in our secret location (wild horses couldn't drag it from me!!!), rode a horse, and helped cut wood.  Busy, but fun!

And now I'm home and here is a new line I'm excited to share.  It's called Dainty Blossoms, by Carina Gardner for Riley Blake.  Isn't it lovely!!
