Tula Pink at Quilt Market

I mentioned before that the Tula Pink Booth at Quilt Market was phenomenal.  I decided to show you some more eye candy from her BLOG.   Her new line, Prince Charming, is definitely charming.  If you look closely on the fabric, there are all sorts of hidden pictures... frogs, snails.... but I never found any puppy dog tails.

This fabric is super beautiful and pictures just don't do it justice.  Thanks for the inspiration, Jen!!

Happy Memorial Day!

About 2 weeks ago, my two oldest children out on a Patriotic Program with thier school.  It was amazing.  I think it's a little harder for kids these days to learn a sense of Patriotism and what it is to be free.  We have had our freedom for generations and it is now reduced to an entitlement... to "the way it is."  I will even admit that I have some of that in me as well.  I try to study history so that I can remember.

But at that little Patriotic Program those children sang and spoke of freedom.  To me, the most touching part was when they sang the songs of each branch of the military.  To see the vets stand up brought tears to my eyes.  These were men and women who were willing to risk thier lives so that we can enjoy so many opportunities.  THANK YOU!  THANK YOU!  Thank you for a land where I can get an education.  Thank you for a land where I am free to worship how I choose.  Thank you for a land where my children are surrounded by opportunities to learn and grow.

Happy Memorial Day!

Pennant Party Flags Pattern.... Take 2

II guess I had enough fun with the first one of these that I decided to make another.  This time, I used the loevly Coquette fabrics from Pat Bravo at Art Gallery.  This pattern is a snap and the flags look so amazing.  They look so care free hanging out in my tree, just begging to be photographed.

If you'd like this pattern, you can get it HERE

If you just want to buy my sample flags, go HERE... but there is only one.

AND if you buy the Coquette fabrics from my shop, you get to pick any of my patterns for free!

Check these babies out...

I always wonder if my neighbors think I'm odd watching me travel around my backyard with yards of bunting, snapping pictures.  If I saw my neighbor doing that, I'd totally get it.   :)  But then, I am a big fan of bunting.

Wishing... on a Long Arm Quilting Machine

When I went to Salt Lake Quilt Market, there were so many booths!  It was amazing.  But one thing I made sure to check out closely was each long arm machine booth.  I've been dreaming of them ever since.

I heard today that Oprah is done... well, I'd have known that sooner if I wasn't dreaming of long arm quilting machines.  Seriously, it's insanity.

Have you ever "driven" one of these?  That's what they call it in "quilt land."  And they should since these babies cost as much as a car.  They run about $8,000 to $30,000.  But a girl can dream, right?

Here's how it works:
1.  put the quilt onto the rollers
2.  Push "START"
3.  Come back in 30 minutes and it's DONE!!

OK, not quite that easy, but pretty darn close.  Love these things.  Can someone help me justify this?  Please, enable away.  LOL!

Free Pattern: Riley Blake's Stacked Flowers

I ran into these and thought they looked oh-so-sweet and really simple as well. I thought it would make a fun addition to a bag or backpack to add a personal touch.  I know my little girls would love this... on an apron, headband... probably even on thier soccer cleats!

This stacking flower pattern is from Riley Blake's Cutting Corners College. They have so many fun ideas there! Enjoy browsing.

Fun With Flags

My fun sister-in-law emailed the other day to ask about "Those triangle flags you see in weddings and parties lately."  I told her all about bunting and I got inspired to try my own.

So of course, I now have...

in the shop.  I can't help myself.  I had such a great time making it and it is really straight-forward.  It costs a lot if you buy it premade, but if you are willing to do the work, you can get the pattern and kits and do it yourself.  It's a great high quality pattern with all sorts of pictures and digrams to make it easy.  PLUS,  the bunting is double-sided so it will last a nice, long time.

I have seen this in photo shoots, baby showers, weddings, parties, bbq's, bedrooms... just about anywhere.  It's a lot of fun.  So... dive into the bunting.  Don't you love that word?  BUNTING!

This fabric amazed me.  Her booth at Quilt Market was so much fun, especially her crown quilt.   This new line is called Prince Charming and if you look closely, you can find all sorts of hidden pictures.  Amazing.  Can't decide which line to order for the shop...

Any suggestions?  You can see her blog right HERE.

My friend, Alana, ordered some fabric from the shop a while back.  You can see her sweet FB Page, Yumminess Textiles,  packed with inspiration.   She sent me a few more pictures of her lovely creations.  The ruffly goodie is to cover diapers.  Is that not adorable??  Guaranteed, I don't have a picture of ME in something like that when I was a wee one!  Kids these days have all the perks.  Way to go, Alana!

Free Pattern: Joel Dewberry Pendant Quilt

I mentioned a few days back, that I had the best time meeting Joel and Laurie Dewberry at the Salt Lake Quilt Market.  I even discovered that they live like 15 minutes away!  You'd have thought I figured that one out by now, but I didn't.

When debating whether or not to start my little fabric shop, I saw Joel's line, Aviary 2, and that was the last straw!  I had to have that fabric!  It's AMAZING!  It's HERE and it's almost gone...

Well, Joel and his wife were kind enough to whip up a free quilt pattern using this great fabric.  It's called a Pendant Quilt and the pattern is HERE.

Here is an image of the quilt.  Isn't it great?  So, sew away!

Coquette Quilt

I've had more fun than I thought with this Coquette fabric from Art Gallery.  It is really amazing, so I had to make a quilt with it.  I have created a lot of patterns in my day, so I figured I could do another.  I love how it turned out!  I designed, basted, quilted and bound this baby all by myself, which I don't do too often.  We're talking hours and hours here.  The pattern can be found HERE

I made it a twin size because that seems to be what I use most of these days with my little ones.  I suppose I'll move onto Queen size when they get married, and then onto baby size.  Eeeeek!  Not thinking that far ahead...

Anyhow, here it is.

And some detail:

Here is the fabric bundle I used from my shop. You can get it HERE for half yards or HERE for full yards. Enjoy!
You can see all sorts of amazing quilts at The Quilter's Blogfest.  Enjoy!

Introducing "All Squared Up"

I'm excited to announce my very first original Yards and Yards Pattern.  I opened my Etsy shop about a month ago, and I am learning a lot and really enjoying the creativity it has opened up for me.

I bought this amazing fabric from Pat Bravo, called Coquette, and I intantly knew what type of quilt I wanted to make with it. I designed my own pattern, made the quilt and here we are!  I call this pattern All Squared Up and I bet you can guess why.  Ha!

It is a super easy pattern and the instructions are really detailed so a beginner can do this one, too.  You can buy the pattern HERE.  You can also buy the fabric bundle to make it right HERE.  I only have enough fabric for about 5 people, so hurry if you want it.  If you do end up wanting the fabric, I will send the PDF pattern along for free.  Just make a note when you buy it.

I hope you love this like I do!

Free Pattern: Moda Bake Shop Pretty-fied Sheet Set

A few years back, I made quilts for my two older girls.  It was a pattern I made up and I used Heather Bailey's Freshcut fabric.  The quilts are so adoarable.  A while back we needed to get bunk beds, so I had to sell their cute white beds.  I got more people calling to see if they could buy their quilts!  I always told them that they would cost a fortune after all I had put into them.  I think I might have a picture somewhere...

Ah ha!  I found it!

I LOVE that fabric as you can tell from looking at my past posts.  I have made coordinating mirror, cork board, hat boxes, lamp, and even skirts!  But I never thought of this...

I came across this cute idea and thought I'd share.  What a great inspiration from Mickey Zimmer for the Moda Bake Shop.  You can see more HERE.

There are about a hundred ways you could add a little something to sheets and pillows so they coordinate with a quilt you've made and this inspiration has got my wheels turning!

Up and Coming: Going Coastal

I don't know how obsessed you are with fabric, but I follow fabric like some people follow the Super Bowl.  I don't usually even know who is playing in the Super Bowl, but I can always tell you which lines of fabric I am most excited about.

That's why I am way excited to go to the Salt Lake Quilt Market this weekend.  My 8-year old wants to come along, but the say you must be 14 to get in.  So silly!  When did creativity have an age limit?

Anyhow, I've stumbled across a lovely line from Michael Miller called "Going Coastal."  It's designed by Emily Herrick and it's actually her first line!

Lately, I've been thinking about re-doing my 10-year old boy's room and I can't seem to find what I love.  I LOVE these colors, although we're not really "beach" people.  But I still LOVE this fabric!!  What do you think?

I can't help it, but I will always have a love of plaid.  And the orange/gray combo in this fabric has got me pegged.  I am really excited to see this at the Market in a few days.

Aviary 2 Yumminess

My friend, Alana, ordered some fabric from the shop a while back.  She has the sweetest facebook page, Yumminess Textiles,  packed with inspiration.  I had no idea she was a WAH mom who sews adorable custom clothing.  It always amazes me the talent and determination out there.  Here is one of the dresses she made with the Aviary 2 fabric.  So cute!!  Way to go Alana!  I love this and summer is coming fast!

Up and Coming: Just Dandy by Josephine Kimberling

I stumbled across this on Josephine's Website right HERE.  I just adore her sense of color and pattern.  It's so eclectic and surprising.  I just might have to add Just Dandy to my little shop.

Here are few close-ups, via Robert Kaufman.

Love it!  Way to go, Josephine!
